Fishy Cake Pops

Bakerella's cake pop creations are amazing.  So, here is my attempt to make cake pops that look like fish.

Start with cake pops already made and on lollipop sticks.  I have found that it is easier to work with them if you keep them in the freezer.
These have been in the freezer and are ready to be coated with candy melt.

Cut the candy melts in half.  I had a cookie cutter shaped like a dress.  So I used the bottom of the dress to cut the candy melts in half.  It gave the candy melts a squiggly edge/  You can also use a knife or another cookie cutter.

Twirl the cake pop in the candy melt.

Now you can gently push a tail fin piece into the cake pop.  You may have to hold the tail fin in place for a second while it sets up.

These are ready to go back into the freezer again.

This is the icing I used.  It was on clearance at JoAnns.  I spend too much time at JoAnns. The tips were on clearance too!

Use the writing tip and draw the top and side fins, eyes and smile.

All these fish took up one whole shelf in our freezer!  I didn't like how the dark green fish turned out.

My drawing with icing abilities are just amazing!!

Here is the tutorial.  Happy Crafting!

Nautical Plant Watering Bottle

I am sure you have all seen these:

That is one of those aqua globe things that water your plant.  You fill it with water and put it in a potted plant, and it waters the plant for you (ignore the dead leaves).  These really are great.  But the first time you use one of these, you will be refilling quite often (not that I would know, because I always water my plants, and not that the picture would indicate from the dead leaves, that sometimes watering regularly means watering once the plant is about dead...).    Instead of buying more of these, I thought I would make some.

So...grab one of these and start drinking!

Glue some jute rope and shells to the bottle.

And viola!!

I didn't purchase anything for this project...I had it all at home.  YAY!!

Fun Fabric Tape

This fun craft was featured on One Pretty Thing: fabric covered packing tape.  This tape would dress up any plain wrapping paper.  The tape can be made for any occasion or theme, just find the fabric you like.
Gather your supplies: mod podge, fabric, packaging tape, wax paper, and fabric.

Here are strips of the fabric tape drying.  I used the packaging tape that isn't sticky until it gets wet.  That way, I didn't have a wax paper layer I had to peel off when I cut a piece of the fabric tape to use.

Here is one of my mistakes.  See the purple fabric that looks wet?  Well it is wet.  The purple is a very light weight cotton and I used too much glue.  It will dry with those dark glue marks. Here is what I did to cover up my mistake:

I cut out a piece of the fabric and glued it over the glue that soaked through the fabric.  Some of my strips of fabric tape were all one continuous piece of fabric.  Other strips of fabric tape were made from bits and pieces of fabric scraps.

Now isn't that package way more fun with fabric tape?!?  I used clothespins to keep the rolls together.  If want a craft kit with everything you need to make this craft (or other crafts on my blog), check out my etsy shop!
